LogiMAT 2007

The 5th International Trade Fair for Distribution, Materials Handling and Information Flow, gets under way in Stuttgart, the organiser, EuroExpo of Munich, reports that already over 400 exhibitors have registered to take part. The space booked amounts to 24, 000 square metres. The biggest demand from exhibitors has come in the exhibition sections on materials handling technology, storage and handling systems, handling equipment, automation and control systems, RFID, logistics management and above all in fork-lifts. The coming event, which takes place from 13 to 15 February 2007 at the Stuttgart International Exhibition Centre.

The accompanying programme to the exhibition is every bit as diverse as the logistics business itself. Lectures and presentations will be held each day on special forum areas set up within the exhibition, where visitors to the fair can benefit directly from the expertise and experience of industry experts. The professionals will be discussing topics that are also being hotly debated in talks between the exhibitors and their visitors, for example, products, solutions, trends and innovations in the control, implementation, optimisation and rationalisation of in-company material flows, of information flows, and of goods transfer in industry and trade.

Eastern Europe as a location for logistics facilities is a hot topic, yet it will be some time still before the infrastructure in eastern Europe is brought up to the standards in the west. In a discussion chaired by the Polish journal LOGISTYKA, a panel of experts review the opportunities and risks in Poland, the Czech Republic, Hungary and the Slovak Republic.

IT-supported production control systems and the ability to depict production processes in ERP landscapes – these are the core themes in modern manufacturing. The journal Produktion presents all the key information about manufacturing execution systems and SAP integration.

The drive to achieve permanent cost-savings and to transfer manufacturing operations into low-wage countries is enhancing the attractiveness of eastern Europe. In a panel discussion chaired by the journal LOGISTIK HEUTE, expert practitioners in the sector will be talking about how to find the right location and the right employees in eastern Europe. Key issues will be successful strategies for sustainable growth.

This year again, as every year, the journal HEBEZEUGE UND FÖRDERMITTEL invites experienced users and experts from institutes and industry to report on the latest findings and experience with ground conveyors. This time they will be concentrating on the long-running theme RFID – a revolution in warehouse operations? What opportunities do RFID solutions bring? The opportunities and perspectives of the interaction between both these technologies will be discussed in depth.
