| Ecocity - Energy and Environment Exhibition This initiative involves a new design in the show's structure, as well as a change in orientation of its marketing and promotional strategy. Starting with the next show, which will be held from the 27th of February to the 2nd of March 2007 in the Gran Vía exhibition centre, ECOMED will be called ECOCITY, City Equipment and Environment Show. The new ECOCITY will join two areas which are very synergetic with each other: cities and the environment. The event will showcase products and services from the following sectors. ECOCITY will also house a Demonstrations Area where exhibitors will be able to present new products and conduct practical product demonstrations. There will also be Conferences and Seminars on environmental issues with the participation of political leaders and well-known figures. The list of side events includes the seventh Environmental Forum Conferences; the 3rd Mediterranean Sustainability Forum; the 5th Sustainable City Awards; the 5th Awards for Recycling Design; the Beacon ATEGRUS/ISWA International Conference on Hazardous Waste Management and the 4th Mayors' Encounter. The evolution of the event has been positive in terms of booked stands space, international participation and audience figures, development in the number of exhibiting companies was at a standstill at the last two shows due, to a great extent, to the need to adapt the event to the reality of the market. At the same time, the sector is still very dependent on public administrations because of the small size of the majority of companies and the dispersed participation in diverse trade fair platforms. According to the OCDE, the state of the Environmental business sector is excellent. World growth up to 2010 is forecast at 30%. Although the sector is still being consolidated in Spain, it has grown considerably in the last ten years, largely due to an increase in social awareness and dynamic legislation. The Spanish environmental market moves some 10, 820 million euros (source: Fundació Fòrum Ambiental – 2003 latest available data), which represents 3.2% of the world market and 8.9% of the E.U. market. It accounts for 1.6% of the Spanish GDP. 219, 400 people are employed in the sector in Spain, mainly in waste management and water treatment. write your comments about the article :: © 2007 Exhibition News :: home page |
