MTA's 54th Annual Educational Conference and Expo

Steven Ford, actor and son of late President Gerald R. Ford, will be the keynote speaker at the Michigan Township Association's 54th Annual Educational Conference and Expo, January 23-26, 2007 at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center. MTA's Annual Educational Conference and Expo is the events of its kind in the Midwest. More than 2, 000 township officials, employees, guests and exhibitors will attend the event, which includes more than 60 educational sessions, as well as a number of networking events.

Ford's presentation, Inside the White House & Hollywood ... Getting to the Top with Character, will feature the lessons he learned as the son of a president at one of the darkest moments in our nation's history—with the resignation of Richard Nixon amidst the Watergate scandal—as well as many historic, never-before-seen photos. Ford will also be the featured speaker at an educational session titled Getting Beyond the Vision, where he will describe the tasks and tools he has used to succeed over the past 25 years.

The Michigan Townships Association promotes the interests of 1, 242 townships by fostering strong, vibrant communities; advocating legislation to meet 21st century challenges; developing knowledgeable, township officials and enthusiastic supporters of township government; and encouraging ethical practices of elected officials who uphold the traditions and unique characteristics of township government and the values of the people of Michigan.
