Gulf Defence Conference 2007

The Gulf Defence Conference (GDC), which will take place during IDEX 2007 - the 8th International Defence Exhibition & Conference - comes at a point where the countries of the Gulf are able to afford significant increases in their military capabilities.

The conference will discuss best use of existing and new programmes to enhance defence transformation and security issues affecting Gulf nations and will feature expert speakers from both Arab countries as well Western nations.

The Conference, organised by Jane's on behalf of IDEX, will examine the impact of developments in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Palestine, Israel, Al Qaeda and the Taliban. However, the main thrust of this Conference will be the discussion of what can be provided to meet the defence and security requirements of Gulf countries.

The key topic of defence transformation is being lead by Air Chief Marshal Sir Anthony Bagnall, the longest serving Vice Chief of the Defence Staff in British history and a prime transformation architect. The agenda will also cover defence on land and at sea as well as looking at the interface of air power, naval and army capabilities.
