| Aerodrome India 2006 The second edition of Aerodrome India, India's most definitive International Exhibition & Seminar on Airport Infrastructure, Security and Airport Operations is being held from 7 - 9 December 2006 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. "Airports being nuclei of economic activity assume great significance in the National Economy", according to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India. This is true, especially for a huge country like India with a landmass of 3.29 million sq. kms. and a growing affluence among its population. It is an acknowledged fact now that India is one of the fastest growing economies and is also one of the biggest markets. With the liberalisation, de-regulation and privatisation of major sectors, India is also taking giant leaps in the Civil Aviation sector. India is witnessing an overwhelming increase in the air passenger traffic due to a marked increase in the disposable income levels. As a cascading effect, the number of airlines increased to cater to the demand and in the last Paris Air Show, over 200 aircrafts were booked for Indian operations alone! Consequently, the Airports Authority of India and the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) are focussing on development of airport infrastructure to handle the projected traffic growth. As a first step to augment the airport infrastructure in India, MoCA has separately developed a policy on Airport infrastructure, which is read with the National Policy on Civil Aviation. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Exhibition News :: home page |
