| Art Cologne 2006 Art Cologne's "New Museums" exhibition programme introduces four innovative new museums at this year's event. The programme aims to generate public interest in new museum architecture and innovative display concepts. It has been running successfully for two years. The four museums featuring in this year's exhibition are: MUSEUM RITTER, Waldenbruck; Zentrum Paul Klee, Berne; Museum für Architekturphotographie, Insel Hombroich, Neuss; Istanbul Museum of Modern Art. Art Cologne runs from 1 to 5 November 2006. Museum Ritter in Waldenbuch, near Stuttgart, was designed by the Swiss architect Max Dudler to house the Marli Hoppe-Ritter Collection. Marli Hoppe-Ritter is the granddaughter of the chocolate magnate Alfred Ritter. Her collection focuses on a single theme - the square. The museum now houses some 600 works by major names in 20th and 21st-century art. The Zentrum Paul Klee in Berne seeks to interest visitors in the phenomenon of Paul Klee and to open up new avenues to the artist's work. It is the leading international centre for research into his life, work and influence and the final authority on questions of attribution. The Zentrum holds around 4, 000 works by Klee, making it the world's most important collection of paintings, watercolours and drawings by him. MAPHO - Museum für Architekturphotographie: in 2007, the cultural and artistic landscape of Insel Hombroich will be enriched with a photography collection housed in a glass-structured, purpose-designed museum. The Museum Insel Hombroich, near Neuss in North Rhine-Westphalia, and the nearby Raketenstation, a former NATO missile base, already house important collections of art and literature. The area is home to architectonic structures incorporating walk-in sculpture by Erwin Heerich and Per Kirkeby, numerous galleries, art associations and artists' studios. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Exhibition News :: home page |
