Rafael's Protector USV to be displayed at Defendory 2006

RAFAEL Armament Development Authority Ltd will display its Protector naval Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) at the Defendory defense exhibition in Athens next month.

Recently, the Protector proved itself outstanding in harbor and ship protection in a series of live tests that took place in San Diego, California. The tests were carried out for the US Navy by RAFAEL and its American partners, Lockheed Martin and BAE Systems. This exercise, dubbed Sea Hawk 06, was carried out to prove just how essential Protector is for harbor security, anti-terror activities, ship protection and oil rig surveillance. According to Dr. Ehud Netzer, Corporate VP and General Manager - Systems Division at RAFAEL, "These tests were very important for RAFAEL in that they helped us understand the Navy's concept of operation and enabled us to demonstrate the Protector's capability to the customer."

The Protector, developed by RAFAEL and marketed in the US by Lockheed Martin and BAE Systems is an integrated naval combat system, based on unmanned, autonomous, remotely-controlled surface vehicles. Highly maneuverable and stealthy, the Protector can conduct a wide spectrum of critical missions, while eliminating unnecessary risk to personnel and capital assets.
