TANDBERG Television and Satellite International Awards at IBC

TANDBERG Television announced that its market-leading digital compression and on-demand technologies have collected two prestigious Cable & Satellite International Product of the Year Awards at a ceremony held earlier this week at IBC in Amsterdam. The TANDBERG RX1290 multiformat professional receiver won the award for best satellite contribution / distribution / transmission solution, while the TANDBERG zBand(TM) content delivery platform picked up the prize for best content-on-demand solution. The double success builds on TANDBERG Television's six nominations for the awards - the most for any company at this year's event.

The Cable & Satellite International Product of the Year Awards 2006 have gained a reputation as one of the most comprehensive and competitive technology awards anywhere in the world. They are judged by a panel of CTO's and senior technologists from broadcasters and operators from around the world, as well as a number of industry analysts and journalists. The awards are designed to reward technical and product marketing excellence in the cable, satellite, terrestrial broadcasting, IPTV and mobile TV sectors. This year more than 120 entries were received from over 60 companies - the judges chose TANDBERG Television's solutions because they demonstrated the spirit of true innovation and the first to market achievement that these awards were founded to recognize.

The RX1290 is TANDBERG Television's latest professional receiver and the world's first professional multi-format MPEG-2/MPEG-4 AVC decoder designed for the high-end contribution market. The RX1290 is capable of processing and decoding more video formats than any other receiver on the market and enables operators in the video contribution and distribution market to take advantage of the bandwidth savings of new advanced compression standards.
