| LinuxWorld Conference & Expo 2006 in San Francisco Completed IDG World Expo announced the successful completion of LinuxWorld Conference & Expo, held August 14-17, 2006. More than 10, 000 participants from around the globe arrived at San Francisco's Moscone Center to examine the latest products and solutions, hear about emerging trends in the industry and experience new content. This year's event also paid tribute to the 15-year anniversary of the kernel with a spirited panel discussion entitled "Celebrating 20 Years of Linux" which highlighted several industry milestones while envisioning the future of Linux. LinuxWorld Conference & Expo 2007 is scheduled to take place August 6-9 at the Moscone Center. Two key themes that resonated throughout the show were mobile Linux and virtualization. Motorola, Nokia and PalmSource, all new exhibitors at LinuxWorld San Francisco, touted their line of mobile Linux products and two keynote addresses focused on these themes: "Creating Must-Have Mobile Experiences With Linux, " by Greg Bisio, Corporate Vice President of Motorola, and "Where Virtualization is Leading Your IT Department" by Peter Levine, CEO, XenSource. All of the keynote addresses from LinuxWorld can be downloaded from the LinuxWorld web site at www.linuxworldexpo.com. Once again, the LinuxWorld exhibit floor featured the key companies that are driving the future of Linux and open source, including AMD, Alfresco, Black Duck Software, CA, Dell, HP, Fujitsu, IBM, Ingres, Intel, Levanta, Motorola, Novell, Oracle, PalmSource, SAP, Scalix Corporation, SugarCRM, ubuntu, Virtuas Open Source Solutions and many more. These exhibitors used the LinuxWorld stage to announce new product and service offerings, or other breaking news relevant to the Linux and open source industry. Additional highlights of the conference included keynote presentations from executives at companies including Creative Commons, Nationwide, XenSource, Motorola and Intel; over 100 conference sessions, labs and tutorials that educated, trained and illustrated how companies across the globe have achieved higher profits and increased their productivity by utilizing Linux; the Golden Penguin Bowl which featured Novell and ubuntu; the first-ever CIO Summit, Linux in the Channel Day and Linux Healthcare Day; and Linux certification testing by the Linux Professional Institute. In addition, Novell and PalmSource each held a Developer Day and Best of Brainshare Program, respectively. One final highlight of the Expo was the introduction of Linuxworld.com in conjunction with Network World. This new site is an affiliate site to the official LinuxWorld Expo web site and will serve as an additional news and content portal for the Linux and open source community.
