PAR3 and Vitality, Inc. Join Forces

PAR3 Communications, a provider of enterprise customer communications and business continuity notifications, announced at the National Association of Chain Drug Stores Pharmacy and Technology Conference, being held August 25-30th in San Diego, California, an initiative with Vitality, Inc., a developer of device-enabled services designed to motivate medication adherence. Together, the companies will offer retail pharmacies, pharmaceutical manufacturers and health system administrators a new approach to improving medication adherence through highly personalized patient interactions.

Non-adherence is estimated to cost the North American healthcare industry an estimated $100B annually (Shorter: Task Force for Compliance Report, 2003). With average adherence rates for many chronic, asymptomatic diseases like Hypertension and Hypercholesterolemia, hovering at or below 50 percent, patient health is in jeopardy. Additionally, research has shown that traditional intervention programs have failed to sustain healthy adherence rates.

Together, Vitality and PAR3 will monitor how patients are taking medications and deliver personalized patient communications which include motivational, instructive and diagnostic messages. The information gathered from the integrated GlowCap and PAR3's interactive communications will be aggregated to ensure highly personalized, relevant interventions.
