Open Source Challenge Competition Announced

In conjunction with Network World Inc. LinuxWorld.com announces the LinuxWorld Open Source Challenge, which will honor the most innovative use of open source in today's enterprise. The contest invites organizations of all sizes to enter their most ingenious, business-critical open-source solutions for judging. Each project entered must use Linux with an open-source business application, and one or more other open-source software components such as Apache, MySQL, Ruby, PHP or Perl. Entries must be received by September 30, 2006.

All entries will be judged by an expert panel including Brian Aker, Director of Architecture, MySQL AB.; Larry Augustin, open-source investor and advisor to early-stage technology companies; John Dix, Editor-in-Chief, Network World; Don Marti, Site Editor, LinuxWorld.com; JP Rangaswami, Head of Alternative Market Models, Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein; and Ean Schuessler, CTO, Brainfood Media Systems.

Winners will be selected in each of the following categories:
- Sales and CRM
- Manufacturing and CRM
- Training and CMS
- Finance
- Vertical or in-house application

The grand prize winner will receive an all-expenses-paid trip to the LinuxWorld Open Solutions Summit Feb. 14-15, 2007, in New York City.
