| Smart City Announces Purchase of Priority Networks Inc. Smart City has announced the purchase of Las Vegas-based Priority Networks Inc., creating synergy between the country's two largest providers of telecommunications technology to the convention and hospitality industries. The two companies will employ 550 people across the United States, and will service 50 event facilities and convention centers in 12 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. Smart City is also the telecommunications company for the Walt Disney World Resort and surrounding areas in central Florida. While there will be some restructuring of upper management, company officials said, there will be no changes to the current operational staff. As private companies, financial terms of this transaction are not being disclosed. According to Smart City President Paul Ashley, this new alliance will benefit clients, expand the company's talent pool and mark the beginning of a new phase for the 20-year-old company. According to company officials, Priority Networks will continue to operate as a stand-alone company under the same name and its daily operations will be unaffected. Dan Poirier will remain president of Priority Networks. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Exhibition News :: home page |
