| Outside the Shoe Box! Liberace's Fabulous Footwear A new exhibit appearing at the Liberace Museum in Las Vegas, September 10, 2006 – January 7, 2007, features the fabulous footwear of the show-off of show business, the godfather of glam, the man himself - Liberace. On display are Liberace's American flag inspired oxfords designed for his famous 1970's hot-pants costume; a rare look at an archetypical Liberace-style sneaker; a blue knee-high boot with beads, rhinestones and edged with mink fur and enough bling to sanction Liberace his due as the King of Bling. Karan Feder, an award-winning Hollywood costume designer and fashion designer is guest curator of this unique exhibition. As such, she interprets the collection with both historical respect and a wink and a nod to the inherent kitsch-factor that these pieces deserve. Selected shoes and boots from the Liberace costume collection dating from 1966 through 1983 epitomize Liberace's distinctive and inimitable style. This special exhibition salutes and celebrates a pioneering performer who knew how to dress the part and inspires us to never underestimate a man in heels. write your comments about the article :: © 2006 Exhibition News :: home page |
