| Webuild Group wins highway contract in Florida, USA The Webuild Group's U.S. subsidiary Lane has won a $218-million (more than €202 million) contract to increase the capacity and improve the safety at an interchange at Interstate 4 (I-4) and Sand Lake Road (State Road 482) in Orange County, Florida. The interchange is part of the county's corridor connecting tourist attractions such as Universal Studios Orlando, International Drive, Sea World, and Walt Disney World. Improvements to the interchange will contribute to the local economy by easing traffic flow, cutting travel times and reducing excess emissions of CO2. Commissioned by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), the project entails roadway improvements and preparations to install a Diverging Diamond Interchange (DDI) with I-4. There is also the replacement of two bridges, the construction of a new bridge for preferential lanes, three new access ramps, as well as the installation of a toll and signaling systems. Once completed, the revamped interchange will help minimise travel times and decrease the wait time at traffic signals. Lane has a major presence in Florida. In Tampa, it is widening a downtown section of I-275. In the greater Orlando area in Osceola County, it is completing the Poinciana Parkway. Elsewhere in Orlando, Lane is working on a beltway at the intersection of I-4, SR 417, and the nearly completed Wekiva Parkway (SR 429). write your comments about the article :: © 2023 Construction News :: home page |
