Iberdrola to electrify Leroy Merlin shop car parks in Spain

Iberdrola and Leroy Merlin join forces to promote sustainable mobility. The energy company will be responsible for installing charge points for electric cars in the car parks of all the shops of the leading home improvement company in Spain, which can be used by its customers, employees and suppliers.

The installation of the chargers will begin in Andalusia, Catalonia, Madrid and Valencia and each shop will have at least four spaces with charge points, which will include fast chargers of between 50 kW and 350 kW for recharging in approximately 15 to 30 minutes with 100% green energy from renewable sources and with Guarantee of Origin (GoO) certificates.

With this initiative, Iberdrola is making progress in its plan to deploy sustainable mobility infrastructure in Spain. Leroy Merlin chargers will be geolocated and charging can be managed from the Recarga Pública Iberdrola app, the only one in Spain that incorporates verified information on all electric vehicle charge points, both those of Iberdrola and those of other operators. The charge point is located from the application, its operability is checked in real time and it is booked and paid for from the mobile phone.

Iberdrola is deploying a sustainable mobility plan, with an investment of 150 million euros, with which it will intensify the deployment of charge points for electric vehicles in the coming years.

The initiative entails installing around 150,000 charge points in homes, companies and on the public road network in cities, as well as on the main motorways and roads. The commitment to the deployment of high-efficiency stations will take the form of ultra-fast (350 kW) stations every 200 kilometres, super-fast (150 kW) stations every 100 kilometres and fast (50 kW) stations every 50 kilometres.
