Bouygues Construction is to build a student housing programme for the University of Essex in the UK
Uliving, a brand of Linkcity UK (the property development subsidiary of Bouygues UK) specialising in student accommodation, has won a 50-year concession contract to construct and provide facilities management services for a 1,262-bedroom project at the University of Essex, in consortium with Equitix, its equity partner. The contract is worth £168 million (€194 million at July 2021 average exchange rate).
The project, known as The Pastures, is located on the University of Essex's Colchester campus in the UK, and is the third phase of student accommodation that Uliving will be delivering for the University of Essex, following the handover of Phase 1 in 2013 (1,420 bedrooms) and Phase 2 in 2018 (643 bedrooms).
The works, which are due to start in September 2021, will be carried out by Bouygues UK, and will enable the new facilities to be made available for the beginning of the 2023/2024 academic year.
Facilities management services will be delivered for a period of 50 years by teams from Bouygues Energies & Services. Equitix is funding the project through bond issues.
