The tunnel boring machines digging Line 14 South and Line 15 South in the Grand Paris Express programme have crossed paths

Allison, the tunnel boring machine being used to extend the Paris metro Line 14 South, has successfully crossed over the future Line 15 South at the site of the future Villejuif Institut Gustave Roussy station, connecting the two lines.

This was a technical challenge for teams, as the specially built structure enabling the Line 14 to pass over the Line 15 is situated in a 63-metre wide shaft at a depth of 55 metres below the Gustave Roussy Institute.

The completion of this important step has allowed Allison to continue tunnelling towards the Maison-Blanche station in Paris.

The project is headed by Dodin Campenon Bernard (VINCI Construction) as part of a joint venture with VINCI Construction Grands Projets, VINCI Construction France, Botte Fondations (VINCI Construction France), Spie batignolles génie civil and Spie batignolles fondations. It will improve daily mobility for 260,000 local residents, reducing travel time between Paris and Orly Airport to just 14 minutes.
