German Landscape Architecture Award 2019 sponsored by NürnbergMesse

In its capacity as the organiser of GaLaBau, the leading international fair for the design, construction and maintenance of urban, green and open spaces, sports grounds, golf courses and playgrounds, NürnbergMesse is sponsoring the German Landscape Architecture Award 2019. Awarded for the 14th time by the Association of German Landscape Architects (bdla), the prize acknowledges outstanding projects for the design of green spaces, open spaces and landscapes that meet contemporary requirements for innovative, ecological and social solutions in exemplary fashion.

At the beginning of March, following an initial online voting process by the expert jurors, 35 projects were nominated from the 109 submissions to now go into the running for the German Landscape Architecture Award 2019. As well as the first prize, the bdla presents awards in the following categories: Public Space as a Centre, Neighbourhood Development/Residential Environment, Use of Plants, Nature Protection and Landscape Experience, Sport/Play/Movement and Landscape Architecture in Detail. Two new categories this year are Young Landscape Architecture and International Projects. The former offers new professionals up to 40 years old and/or who have been working for up to seven years after being certified as an architect the opportunity to raise their profile, while the latter category invited landscape architects based in Germany to submit projects realised overseas. At their meeting in the German Architecture Centre Berlin on 12 April 2019, the high-calibre 11-strong jury consisting of various industry experts will then decide which of the 35 nominees will be among the winning projects. Organisers and sponsors are extending an invitation to the awards ceremony, which will take place on 20 September 2019 in the Allianz Forum at Pariser Platz in Berlin.
