| Strabag to renovate the south section of M3 metro line in Budapest The European construction group STRABAG, through its Hungarian subsidiary Strabag Építőipari Zrt., has won the contract to rehabilitate the southern section of the M3 metro line. The contract value totals HUF 24.7 billion (~ € 76 million). In addition to the renewal of five stations and passenger areas, the track structure is also being modernised. The work should be completed in 2020. "After the renovation of the northern section starting in 2017, we are pleased that we can continue to contribute to the renewal of the Hungarian metro network with the southern section, " says Thomas Birtel, CEO of Strabag SE. The overall project is divided into three sections: North (Újpest-Központ – Lehel tér), Middle (Lehel tér –Nagyvárad tér) and South (Nagyvárad tér – Kőbánya-Kispest). The metro line is 17.3 km long, with 15.5 km of the track in tunnel.
