Atkins business awarded $6M Florida disaster recovery management contract

Atkins, a member of the SNC-Lavalin Group, was awarded a $6M contract by the City of Mexico Beach, Fla., to provide comprehensive disaster recovery administrative services and financial and grant management support following Hurricane Michael.

Hurricane Michael, which made landfall at Mexico Beach October 10, 2018, severely damaged most government structures and utilities throughout the city. Nearly two weeks later, Atkins began operating under an emergency contract to conduct damage estimates, provide FEMA programmatic policy and compliance support, maintain and implement public information and communication services and supplement staff for disaster recovery needs.

"Since late October, our team members have been working side-by-side with the City to expedite recovery, " said Charles Dugger, Technical Project Manager, SNC-Lavalin's Atkins business. "With team members who live in the area or work in nearby offices, we understand the devastation and are dedicated to continuing the work to restore the City of Mexico Beach.

The new contract replaces the existing emergency contract, allowing Atkins to continue and complete the work already begun. The team is also providing complex public assistance policy advice, technical assistance and guidance in the development, review and closeout of recovery projects.
