Goldhofer’s first customer in Bangladesh

Shamolima Ltd., which is headquartered in Dhaka, is the only national IMS certified heavy haulage company in Bangladesh, with strategically located offices in all major ports and airports throughout the country. Shamolima owns its own certified cranes, trailers and maintains a pool of internationally trained operators, riggers and signalmen. As of autumn 2017 the company will also be the country's only owner of a brand-new Goldhofer THP/SL 12 with "ADDRIVE". At the 2016 Breakbulk Middle East Exhibition in Abu Dhabi, Shamolima CEO Shahid I Chowdhury and his team took the decision to acquire a THP/SL 12 with an "ADDRIVE" 4-axle module and Power Pack.

Chowdhury: "We mainly serve customers in the powergen and energy industry and regularly transport outsize items like generators, transformers and construction machinery. We have certification pursuant to ISO 9001, ISO 14000 and OHSAS 18001, and to ensure that we satisfy the demands that entails, we have a focus on continuous improvements to our fleet of vehicles. That's why we chose the THP/SL 12 plus ADDRIVE with the Power Pack."

This Goldhofer vehicle gives Shamolima additional operating flexibility in several fields. The configuration can be used to move freight with a total load of up to 600 tons. With the patented "ADDRIVE" system, the rig can travel in the economy mode on normal roads, with the switchable drive with the Power Pack ready to be activated for additional traction on demanding terrain. The THP/SL offers flexible wheelbase settings and the deck comes with a hydraulic width adjustment system and spacer for flexible adjustment to different loads and regulations. With the high flexural strength of the frame and closed loading platform, heavy items and concentrated loads can also be carried on the dropdeck. The advantages are low running heights and fast loading and unloading. "The THP/SL 12 plus "ADDRIVE" is due to be delivered at the end of October, and we are very much looking forward to our first assignments with the new vehicle," says Shahid I Chowdhury.
