| Jens-Peter Saul, CEO of Ramboll, turns 50 When Jens-Peter Saul looks back on his first four years as CEO at Ramboll it is with pride due to the internationalisation, which Ramboll has achieved. Friday, July 1st he turns 50. During the last four years Ramboll has transformed from primarily a Scandinavian company to an integrated and international company with offices in 35 countries. Since Jens-Peter Saul took the position as CEO, Ramboll has grown by 56 percent, added 2700 new employees and moved into 14 new markets. It was indeed a top executive with a global outlook and experience from an international organization which the Ramboll Board were looking for to replace the retiring CEO Flemming Bligaard Pedersen. Jens-Peter Saul had gained the international experience from a faithful career with German Siemens since 1995. After completing his engineering studies at the Hannover University, he was employed as a project engineer and advanced quickly through the Group. In Siemens he has been director for power plant sales in the Middle East, the Managing Director of Energy in the UK and for the regions of North and Western Europe as well as CEO of Siemens Wind Power. He finds the motivation and the energy to lead Ramboll towards a solid position on the global map in watching his employees' excitement and pride of being a part of the journey. But it has not always been like this. "At the beginning of my career I was driven by winning the biggest and most profitable projects. It gave me a kick and I loved the adrenaline. Today what motivates me is certainly to see how my leadership inspires and moves people to constantly develop Ramboll into a truly global and passionate consultancy firm. To experience the organization working together towards a common goal and feeling the employees excitement about the future we are heading towards, is an unbeatable motivator for me, "says Jens-Peter Saul. He describes his leadership style as authentic, clear and direct with a high believe in combining empowerment and accountability of the employees. This applies both when he sets the strategic direction and communicates the great visions, as well as when he communicates with his teams on a daily basis. "My employees always know where I stand and what I expect of them. I state my viewpoints and invite my colleagues to do the same. I believe it is important that all viewpoints are on the table, for only then can we challenge and develop each other, and together find the best solution, " says Jens-Peter Saul. He had to take in use his ability to inspire and communicate clearly when Ramboll had chosen the American consultancy Environ as an interesting acquisition target. The company was not for sale and it took over one and a half years to convince the 150 partners to give up their independence and let themselves be acquired by Ramboll. Jens-Peter Saul refers to the process as one of the biggest challenges of his time at Ramboll and the acquisition as one of the most important steps taken in Ramboll's development. With Environs 1, 500 employees on board, Ramboll entered into the global elite for environmental consultancy and took a big step closer to a global presence. Jens-Peter Saul is married and has two children. The big day will be celebrated with a big party that brings together friends and family from around the world. write your comments about the article :: © 2016 Construction News :: home page |
