| Metro de Lima Consortium wins the PFI 2015 Americas, Deal of the Year award for Line 2 Financing The Metro de Lima Line 2 Consortium [Sociedad Concesionaria Metro de Lima Línea 2] has won the PFI 2015, Americas, Deal of the Year award in the public-private partnership category for the finance secured to construct Line 2 of the Metro. The size of the deal, innovative use of debt instruments and its structuring, were recognised at the PFI 2015 awards ceremony held in London this month. Members of the Consortium, which includes Iridium Concesiones, Cosapi, FCC Construction, Ansaldo STS, Ansaldo Breda and Salini Impregilo, as well as Fernando Valdez, the executive vice-president of Cosapi were in attendance to receive the prestigious award. Acknowledged as one of the most ambitious infrastructure endeavours ever launched in Latin America under a concession framework, the project will connect Lima and Callao in the Peruvian capital, it will also include the branch line Av. Gambetta – Av. Faucett of the planned Metro Line 4. The project financing guarantees the funds to construct 35 kilometres of heavy underground metro between Ate and Callao, which, when inaugurated, will be able transport 660,000 passengers per day, a capacity which could double as demand increases. The sponsors of the project have secured US$1.955bn in debt, and made use of a new financing structure allowing the Consortium to build, operate and transfer the project to the Peruvian government. Through this method of financing, the Consortium completed the biggest ever financial operation in the international market for an infrastructure project in Peru's history. The awards are run by PFI (Project Finance International), a financial publication of the Thomson Reuters group, specialising in global project finance. write your comments about the article :: © 2016 Construction News :: home page |
