Turner Construction Company Named among Glassdoor's Top 50 Best Places to Work for 2016

Turner honored by Glassdoor's annual Employees' Choice Awards, which recognize the firm's strong company culture based on respect for people, and vision to make a difference for employees, partners, clients, and communities.

Turner Construction Company is pleased to announce that Glassdoor named Turner among the winners of their annual Employees' Choice Awards, recognizing the company as one of the Best Places to Work for 2016.

Employees' Choice Award winners are determined by the feedback of current and former employees collected through a survey about their role, work environment, and company. The survey questions—which focus on everything from compensation and benefits to senior management to work/life balance and company values—are designed to capture an authentic, inside look at individual jobs and organizations for prospective employees.
Turner is the only construction company included in the list, and the company's rank of 36—up two places from 2015—speaks to how positive Turner employees continue to be about their work, their team members, and the future of the company. This is a reflection of Turner's culture, every element of which is driven by a deep respect for people.

When it comes to safety, that respect means the company is committed to sending every worker home safely every day. In addition to the safety activities Turner leads on a daily basis, the company also holds an annual Safety Stand-down, stopping work on 1, 000 jobsites to deliver important safety messages to more than 40, 000 workers.

When it comes to innovation and problem solving, that respect means providing encouragement, support, tools, and resources for the development, evaluation, and implementation of creative solutions and improvements at Turner. The company holds an annual Innovation Summit, bringing together a diverse group of employees and business leaders to share knowledge and collaborate on a wide variety of innovations. And the Summit is offered in conjunction with the company's annual Award for Innovation program, now in its fourth year, which recognizes and rewards teams and individuals for developing and implementing innovative ideas. Since it began, the Award for Innovation program has presented employees with more than $200, 000 in cash prizes.

When it comes to diversity and inclusion, that respect means fostering a work environment in which every employee contributes creative solutions, seeks challenges, and has opportunities to grow. This year, Turner achieved a score of 100/100 on the Human Rights Campaign's Corporate Equality Index, and earned the designation of Best Place to Work for LGBT equality. The company also supports employees' personal and professional goals for growth through its tuition reimbursement program, which distributes $1 million a year to employees pursuing advanced degrees in a wide variety of disciplines.

When it comes to social responsibility and good corporate citizenship that respect means actively engaging in community partnerships throughout the year, and sponsoring, supporting, and participating in a wide variety of programs focused on youth education, health and welfare, and improving the viability of local businesses. This spring, for the 113th anniversary of Turner's founding, volunteers from the company's offices across the United States, as well as its offices in Canada, Mexico, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Russia, Kazakhstan and others, came together and performed more than 10,000 hours of community service in a single day.

And when it comes to sustainability, that respect means Turner promotes sustainable construction practices, and is committed to delivering healthy and productive places to work, learn, live, play, heal, and share experiences. The company has been recognized as the number one green builder in the United States, performing more than $5.4 billion in green work in 2014 alone, which represents more than $100 million in sustainable construction every week.
