Ferrovial-led consortium chosen to rebuild I-285/SR 400 in Atlanta

Ferrovial, through Ferrovial Agroman, heads the consortium that has been selected by the Georgia State Transportation Board (STB) to design, build and partly finance the I-285/SR 400 project, worth 460 million dollars (around 420 million euro).

The consortium, which also includes The Louis Berger Group and Neel-Shaffer, will rebuild the I-285/SR 400 interchange and upgrade the I-285 and SR 400. This segment of road, located north of Atlanta, is 10.5 miles long (around 16.5 kilometres).

Upgrades will include the construction of new flyover ramps, collector-distributor lanes and other elements to facilitate east-west movement on I-285 and north-south movement on SR 400. The PATH 400 trail system will also be expanded inside the perimeter.

The project will be financed with funds from federal, state and local (Perimeter CIDs) sources as well as private funding provided by the consortium.

It is scheduled to be completed in 2020. A regular user of the corridor will save 8 hours of travel time per year, and the project should reduce delays for all users by 20,000 hours per day.
