| Strabag awarded contract for section of A1 in Poland The publicly listed construction group Strabag SE has been chosen to build the 15 km section of Poland's A1 motorway between Woźniki and Pyrzowice. The € 118 million (PLN 495.5 million) contract comprises the construction of the concrete motorway as well as one maintenance facility, two rest stops, 29 bridge structures and several wildlife crossings within a period of 30 months. Additionally, already existing municipal and district roads will be rehabilitated in parallel with the motorway works. "The construction of this section of the A1 is of priority for the region. It combines the northern part of the country with the south as well as the cities of Silesia with Katowice International Airport in Pyrzowice", explains Thomas Birtel, CEO of Strabag SE. The section is to be opened to traffic in mid-2018. It will mark the completion of another portion of the Trans-European Network (TEN). write your comments about the article :: © 2015 Construction News :: home page |
