| Strabag widening A3 in southern Germany Strabag has been awarded the contract to widen two sections of the A3 motorway in Germany with a total contract value of about € 90 million. "In the past few years, we have already been working on the expansion of the motorway between Frankfurt and Nuremberg. I am therefore especially pleased that Strabag – the Number 1 in the German construction sector – again was the best bidder", says Thomas Birtel, CEO of the Strabag Group. Contract section EO 287 foresees Strabag expanding the federal motorway to six lanes along the 5.7 km from the Heidingsfeld interchange in Bavaria to Randersacker Bridge. In addition to widening the asphalt roadway, the contract also involves extensive retaining wall works as well as the construction of noise barriers. A temporary road will also be built south of the motorway in order to reduce the interruption to traffic to a minimum. Strabag also recently started work on the A3 contract section EO 259, an 8.5 km stretch of motorway near Wertheim in Baden-Württemberg. This contract involves the expansion of the asphalt roadway from four to six lanes. write your comments about the article :: © 2015 Construction News :: home page |
