Industry recognition for oil and gas with two new fellowships

Two senior engineers in Atkins' oil and gas division have been made fellows of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) in recognition of their technical expertise, leadership and industry experience.

Associate director Jo Moffatt and principal project manager Paul Fowler were appointed to the highest grade of membership of the ICE as a result of the contributions they have made to the field of civil engineering across different sectors.

Jo Moffatt has been chief engineer and operations manager of Atkins' oil and gas team in Epsom since 2013 where she is responsible for leading a multidiscipline design and consultancy team of 70 engineers, specialising in offshore fixed structures, computational fluid dynamics, process simulation, process safety and reliability engineering. Jo has 18 years' experience in civil engineering, in both the transportation and oil and gas industries. With a technical background in bridge engineering, she has subsequently taken significant project management responsibility on several high profile multi-disciplinary projects, including the design of the M25 Widening scheme (Sections 1, 4 and 6) and delivery of the London 2012 engineering design services to the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (LOCOG).

Paul Fowler is a key contact for Atkins' structural frameworks clients and joined the oil and gas team in 2012. Prior to this, Paul worked in the water industry for more than 30 years where he was involved in significant infrastructure projects including upgrading of the Aberdeen water supply, the Buckie wastewater treatment works site selection, the North Kincardine coastal drainage scheme, the South Kincardine borehole scheme, the Upper Deeside wastewater improvement programme and the Fraserburgh wastewater collection and transfer scheme.
