Esther Alcocer Koplowitz underlines FCC’s commitment to Line 2 of the Panama Metro Project

Esther Alcocer Koplowitz, Chairwoman of FCC, stressed the commitment to work and invest in Panama by the Citizen Services Group, following the official awarding of the contract to build Line 2 of the Panama Metro.

Esther Alcocer Koplowitz and Ana Pastor, the Spanish Minister for Public Works, visited the Secretariat of the Panama Metro (SMP) and Line 1 of the Metro in Panama City (also built by FCC and Odebrecht) this week. Esther Alcocer Koplowitz, said "FCC is facing a new stage with which we can strengthen our continued interest and commitment to work and invest in Panama."

After expressing the joy, pride and responsibility that this award brings, Esther Alcocer Koplowitz said that "after so many shared experiences, we feel as Panamanian as the 1,500 people who make our projects here."

During the visit managers from FCC explained to Ana Pastor and the President of the Panama Metro, Roberto Roy, the characteristics of the new Line 2 as well as other works constructed by FCC in the country.

Meanwhile, Ana Pastor FCC congratulated FCC on the award, acknowledging all the works that Spanish companies continue to develop in Panama.

The award to Spanish-Brazilian consortium was officially made yesterday by the authorities of the Central American country. FCC and Odebrecht won the bidding process with an offer of 1, 650 million euros and a total score of 855.98 for a total of 1, 000 in the whole of the technical and financial offer.

The financial offer was of 1, 858 million dollars (1,650 million euros) compared with a reference price of 1, 818 million dollars (more than 1, 610 million euros) set by the SMP. The exclusion range for bidders was set at 20% in both upper and lower.

The contract for the construction of Line 2 of Panama Metro includes the design engineering, civil works construction, auxiliary facilities of the line, supply and installation of integrated rail system including rolling stock and commissioning line.

The work will have 16 stations and 21 kilometers of elevated highway, connecting the stations from the district of San Miguelito to 24 de diciembre district. This project will benefit approximately half a million people in Eastern sector of Panama.

FCC has extensive experience in metros. Having constructed Line 1 of the Panama Metro, it is also currently constructing Lines 4, 5 and 6 of Riyadh Metro, the Metro Red Line Doha, Line 2 of the Metro Lima as well as metro systems in Toronto and Bucharest.
