| Atkins awarded leading cyber security certification Atkins has been awarded a CREST-verified certification for information security under a scheme called Cyber Essentials Plus which was developed by government and industry and launched last year. As a design, engineering and project management consultancy, Atkins is leading the sector in this accreditation. The scheme is part of the UK Government's National Cyber Security Strategy and is designed to improve the resilience of UK businesses to common cyber security threats. It provides verifiable certification of company capabilities to customers, investors, insurers and others via an independent assessment of the essential controls needed to mitigate risks from internet-borne threats. All regions in which Atkins operates are covered by the certification Richard Cross, Atkins' chief digital officer, said: "This certification provides our government and industry clients with a demonstrable level of assurance that our information security methodologies are robust. Our clients can now be assured that our internet connected end-user devices such as desktop PCs, laptops, tablets and smartphones, and internet connected systems including email, web and application servers have been assessed to the highest standard against internet-borne threats." CREST is a not-for-profit accreditation body that represents the technical information security industry. Working alongside the Bank of England, government and industry, CREST has also developed a framework to deliver controlled, bespoke, intelligence-led cyber security tests. Atkins' certification process was carried out by CREST member company Portcullis. write your comments about the article :: © 2015 Construction News :: home page |
