New shopping center set to open in Neumünster's city center

The construction of Holsten-Galerie has entered the home stretch: The new shopping center will open on October 15, 2015 and will comprise a diverse and attractive shopping experience including approximately 90 stores, cafés, restaurants, and service providers on a sales area of 22,800 m². The construction of the exterior facilities and the interior is in full swing and on schedule. Approximately 85% of the shop spaces have been leased; about two-thirds of the shop concepts will debut in Neumünster's city center. The diverse branch and tenant mix consists of various national and international as well as regional retailers. The long-term management of Holsten-Galerie lies in the hands of ECE which had developed and planned the project. The investment volume amounts to approximately 145 million euros.

Variety of shops
ECE has designed a diverse mix of retailers and branches for Holsten Galerie. Many regional retailers complement the store mix in the center.

"We are delighted about the interest in Holsten-Galerie and our leasing efforts so far: 85% of shop spaces have been leased, " says Thomas Carl, Leasing-Manager at ECE. "We are especially delighted that several retailers, who are already operating a shop in Neumünster, have also leased shops at Holsten-Galerie. These include Bäckerei Andresen, Friseur Schereika, First Reisebüro Godbersen, Intersport and the dm drugstore chain. This is proof of their trust in the location. We are currently in negotiations with regard to the vacant rental areas. We are still available for further interested tenants, particularly for retailers based in the region. Their presence would enable us to further increase the number of local retailers in the center."

Diverse food retailers
The food court, whose rental units have almost been fully leased, will be a further highlight of Holsten-Galerie. With its broad range of culinary offers and approximately 300 seats, it will be a special visitor magnet for the shopping center and the city center of Neumünster. The mix of food retailers also includes a Nordsee store; the company's move to Holsten-Galerie marks its return to Neumünster.

Holsten-Galerie additionally comprises a commercial space of 1,400 m² for offices, medical practices, or law firms. The modern rental areas will have a separate entrance and their layout can be designed to the tenants' needs.

Construction progress is on schedule
The construction of Holsten-Galerie is on schedule: The shell construction has been completed and the work on the roof structure and the sealing of the roof are in full swing. Also ongoing are the brick facing of the facade, as well as the installation of the thermal insulation system and the windows. The interior finishing work and the installation of the technical building equipment are also underway. The first rental areas in the interior have almost been completed and are set for handover to the tenants. The currently 250 workers on the building site ensure a good progress of the overall construction work. ECE architects clearly drew on regional influences for the design of the building: Many building elements are reminiscent of the history of Neumünster. They are reminders of the flourishing cloth and leather industry. The cloth company Sager & Söhne used to stand on the premises on which Holsten-Galerie is being built.

Preparations for the operation of the center
At the same time, ECE Center Manager Christian Langsdorff is preparing the center for operation. He is currently assembling a team for the building services and the customer information desk on site and he also coordinates the collaboration of various service providers, such as cleaning and security services. A total of approximately 700 jobs will be created by the center.

Additional innovative services of ECE for the center are also in preparation: There will be a digital kids' play area in the mall, free WI-FI in the entire center, contactless parking with a parking card, a center app for smart phones, and a digital 3-D guiding system.

Center Manager Christian Langsdorff: "We would like to provide a relaxed and unforgettable shopping experience to our visitors. Therefore, we are working hard even before the official opening so we can open a perfect center in fall. Our tenants and our center management team are already looking forward to unlocking the doors for our visitors."

Premium location in the city center
The new Holsten-Galerie is situated in the very center of Neumünster, between the ICE railway station, Gänsemarkt, and Großflecken. Besides 380 parking spaces on the roof of the shopping center, further 570 parking spaces are available in a separate parking garage, which has already been opened.
