FCC presents best offer for construction of line 2 of Panama Metro

FCC in consortium with Brazilian construction company Norberto Odebrecht S.A. has presented the best offer for the construction of Line 2 of the Panama Metro, according to the announcement by the Metro of Panama Secretary. The contract will be awarded definitively on the 22nd of May when the period of possible objections from other bidders closes.

In the public tender for the best offer with separate evaluation, the FCC-Odebrecht consortium presented a financial proposal totalling 1.648 billion euro which obtained a qualification total of 855.98 out of 1,000.

The offer made was 1.858 billion US dollars (1.649 billion euro) in front of a referential price of 1.818654 billion dollars (over 1.61 billion euro) fixed by the Metro Secretary. The exclusion range for bidders was fixed at 20% either side of this figure.

The contract for the construction of Line 2 of the Panama Metro consists of engineering design services, construction of the civil works, installation of auxiliary works on the line, supply and installation of the railway line including rolling stock.

The works will include 16 stations and 21km of elevated track, connecting stations from the San Miguelito district to the 24 de diciembre district.

This project will benefit approximately half a million people in the Eastern sector of Panama.

FCC has vast experience in metros, having constructed Line 1 in Panama, and currently working on lines 4, 5 and 6 of Riyadh metro, the red line of the Doha metro, Line 2 of Lima metro and also Toronto and Bucharest Metros, among others.
