| Balfour Beatty receives its most ever Considerate Constructor Awards  Balfour Beatty has scooped its most ever awards under the Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) this year achieving joint third place out of over one hundred companies who entered the scheme.The annual national awards recognise companies' efforts to raise standards in consideration for the communities in which they work and to improve the performance and overall perception of the industry. Balfour Beatty received 38 gold, silver or bronze awards for its varied projects across the country with five Balfour Beatty sites presented with the prestigious gold award. Of these 'Gold' awards, the judges said the Camley Street student accommodation scheme in London showed a 'clear commitment' to community support and engagement on a busy site, while the St James's Market commercial scheme in Regent Street with its interactive 3D model for public use, showed a 'constant trialling of new ideas at extraordinary levels', and the M25 J23-27 Smart Motorways scheme, delivered in partnership with Skanska, showed the 'principle of good communication with those likely to be affected'. The judges also praised the 'Gold' Award, Urbaser Balfour Beatty Residual Waste scheme in Essex for the 30 young unemployed people taken on during the project and the BBMV Whitechapel Crossrail scheme for its community support which included IT beginner courses for homeless people. Balfour Beatty's 18 silver awards included the Thameslink New Cross Gate rail project and the Olympic Stadium Transformation project in London. Fifteen other projects were named as bronze award winners. Dr Paul Toyne, Balfour Beatty Director of Sustainability, said: "The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a great performance benchmark for us and I'm delighted that we have achieved our best ever result. Wherever we deliver our projects we also want to deliver social benefit and reduce our environmental impact, be it through local school visits, working with wildlife groups or providing employment opportunities for local communities.
