Group Zumtobel Group’s “Long Night of Apprenticeships”: Trainees gain insights into the world of light

Some 300 visitors learned about apprenticeships in the Zumtobel Group during the "Long Night of Apprenticeships" in the company's training workshop in Dornbirn. Apprentices were on hand at the workbenches and machines and in the seminar rooms to answer questions, giving visitors fascinating insights into the world of light. Currently, the Zumtobel Group is training 84 apprentices. The company will offer an additional 27 apprenticeships during the coming year.

"As a result of the technological shift toward LED, our demand for technicians in the areas of electronics, electrical engineering and mechatronics continues to rise. We have increased the number of mechatronics apprenticeships – introduced just last year – from two to five. We train a total of seven trades: electrician, electronics technician, plastics technician, metalworker, production technician and mechatronics technician and toolmaker, " said Felix Stecher, Head of Apprentice Training in the Zumtobel Group.

Attracting girls to apprenticeships
"Amazone" (Amazons) – an organization that promotes equal access to the various apprenticeships for young women and men – had an information booth at the "Long Night of Apprenticeships". "Our goal is to increase the proportion of female apprentices, because we see great potential there, " said Felix Stecher, who was delighted with the cooperation.
