| Schindler opens new factory in India Schindler's new elevator factory in Pune, India, reaffirms a clear commitment to customer focus, sustainability and growth. "India is the world's second largest market", explains CEO Silvio Napoli. "Our new supply chain unit in Pune represents a key platform for our growth strategy and will enable us to continue offering competitive products to our Indian customers with even shorter delivery times." The new facility, which employs more than 150 people, is based on the latest environmentally friendly technology and has been awarded the IGBC (LEED India) Gold rating. The next step in the Pune Campus will be the opening of a new escalator factory and a global R&D Competence Center including a 70-meter-tall test tower.
