| BAM joint venture wins major road contract near Belfast BAM Contractors, the Irish operating company of Royal BAM Group nv, and its joint venture partner FP McCann have been awarded the A26 dual carriageway contract for the Department for Regional Development in Northern Ireland. This design and build contract has a value of approximately € 48 million, which will be split equally between the JV partners. The eight kilometre scheme involves improvement of the A26 Trunk Road from single carriageway to dual two-lane carriageway (D2AP) from south of the Glarryford crossroads to the junction with the A44 Drones Road. This is a strategically important route which links Belfast to the north coast of Northern Ireland and its most popular tourist attractions. The existing road carries around 18, 000 vehicles per day and with traffic levels continuing to grow, this very significant investment will help improve road safety and reduce congestion and journey times. The BAM/McCann joint venture will commence works by the end of this year, with completion expected in mid-2017. write your comments about the article :: © 2014 Construction News :: home page |
