| Amec announces co-operation with Romania’s Nuclear and Radioactive Waste Agency Amec, the international engineering and project management company, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Romanian Nuclear and Radioactive Waste Agency (ANDR) to provide expert technical advice on the safe disposal of radioactive waste from the country's nuclear plants. ANDR, a national institution reporting to the Ministry of Economy, is responsible for the safe storage and disposal of radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel on behalf of the Romanian Government. It is planning to develop a waste repository at Saligny, near to the Cernavoda nuclear power plant. The agreement will see ANDR and Amec work together to develop a national strategy to decommission Romania's nuclear facilities and provide long-term storage for radioactive waste. The official signing of the Memorandum of Understanding took place at the British Embassy in Bucharest hosted by the UK Ambassador, Paul Brummell. It was signed by Florin Tatar, President of ANDR and Andy White. write your comments about the article :: © 2014 Construction News :: home page |
