| Züblin and Hochtief to build rail tunnel in Rastatt The joint venture led by Züblin and Hochtief was commissioned by DB Netz AG to deliver the shell construction of the "Rastatt Tunnel". The tunnel project is part of planning approval section 1.2 of the new railway route between Karlsruhe and Basle. The contract volume amounts to approximately EUR 312 million. The core element of the project is the twin-tube rail tunnel which passes directly under the city area of Rastatt and will be bored mechanically with a so-called hydro shield tunnel boring machine over a length of around 3.8 kilometers. The contract also includes the trough sections to the south and north as well as a supply shaft and an operational building.
