| Bilfinger technology for Austrian hydroelectric power plants German construction and industrial services group group Bilfinger has won two new orders in Austrian hydroelectric power plants with a total volume of about €45 million. For Voralberger Illwerke AG, the Group is manufacturing and installing all pressure piping systems for the new Obervermunt II pumped storage power plant. At the Reißeck II hydroelectric power plant in Kärnten, which Bilfinger has been involved in from the start, the company has received a supplementary order. Specialists from Bilfinger will build all pressure-shaft plating for the Obervermunt II power plant which has an output of 360 megawatts. A particular challenge is an elevated, free-standing pressure piping system made of high-strength fine-grained steel that stretches 1,100 meters. At the Reißeck II pumped storage power plant, the Group is fitting the area after the turbines up to the connection to the existing intake waterway with pressure shaft piping. Bilfinger has already provided the design, manufacturing and assembly of the remaining pressure shaft piping and associated system components for Reißeck II. With Reißeck II, Verbund Hydropower AG is expanding its facilities into one of the most powerful group of hydroelectric power plants in Europe. write your comments about the article :: © 2014 Construction News :: home page |
