One Central Park named Australasia’s best tall building

One Central Park in Sydney, NSW, has been recognised internationally by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH).

The building was named one of the world's four best tall buildings, specifically for the Asia and Australasia region. It will now be judged for the overall title of 'Best Tall Building Worldwide' on November 6th at the CTBUH 13th Annual Awards Symposium.

In a judging class hailed for its sustainability focus and 'reimagining the traditional' in tall buildings, One Central Park was seen as distinct by the judging panel. The vertical gardens attracted considerable attention, not only for their aesthetic, but the environmentally conscious outlook they represented.

The judges' evaluations also pay credit to the effective use of shading, the heliostat and other innovative methods at lessening the energy consumption of the building.

Arup, a multidisciplinary engineering and consulting firm with a reputation for delivering innovative and sustainable designs, played a key role in this part of the development. As part of the firm's provision of building services engineering, the sustainability framework was developed in collaboration with WSP Lincolne Scott.

One Central Park is a joint venture between Frasers Property Australia and Sekisui House Australia.
