| NCC commissioned to build 400 apartments at Port of Aarhus NCC has received a construction contract in Aarhus in Denmark worth SEK 725 million. Inspired by Dutch-style port warehouses, NCC is to build an apartment complex named Havneholmen in three stages at the Port of Aarhus. The plan for the area has now received final approval, and construction will soon officially commence with the traditional turf-cutting ceremony. The first stage is scheduled for initial occupancy in the fourth quarter of 2015, with the next two stages scheduled for completion in 2016. Sustainable solutions have been included in many parts of Havneholmen, including using environment-friendly materials with long service lives and energy-efficient fittings. The building will have a healthy interior climate with plenty of daylight for residents to enjoy and heat-exchange ventilation. In addition, by offering both small two-room apartments and larger family apartments with five rooms, Havneholmen will have a diverse mix of residents. These residents will have access to the harbor front, green spaces and many communal areas. "This is a modern building in every way. It meets many modern-day requirements for sustainability, taking everything into account from energy consumption during construction to creating rooms that facilitate the lifestyle of residents, both young and old, " says Palle Bjerre Rasmussen, Director at NCC Construction Denmark. Architecturally, Havneholmen will be a wonderful complement to the iconic shape of the neighboring Iceberg complex, which NCC is also constructing. Both projects will have white, polished concrete as the dominant façade material, and also the multifaceted façade. Together, the buildings will become a distinctive part of the harbor environment. Developers are Topdanmark and Pensam, with Kromann Reumert and Niras serving as advisors. NCC, the turnkey contractor for Havneholmen, has Cowi and architects C.F. Møller as its advisors. write your comments about the article :: © 2014 Construction News :: home page |
