| Energy producers rely on expertise from Bilfinger Bilfinger makes power plant operators more flexible: district heating storage components allow the temporary intermediate storage of heat energy for heating and combined cycle power plants. The engineering and services group will be building such a plant for a biomass heating plant in Bruneck, Italy starting in May 2014. The order has a volume of about €1 million. The range of services includes design, manufacturing and installation of the storage component and its integration into the existing heating infrastructure. Over the past two years, Bilfinger has created district heating storage components valued at €80 million and thus positioned itself in the market as a leading supplier in the design and construction of such storage facilities. The Group is currently implementing projects in Bochum, Ulm, Nuremberg, and Diemen in the Netherlands among other places. With the increase in wind and solar power, plant operators have to react very flexibly to input that fluctuates due to the weather. Since the heating storage component acts as a buffer, the power plant does not have to be started and then shut down again at short notice when heat is required in the district-heating network. Hot water can be stored for days at an almost constant temperature level in the thick insulated steel tank and be retrieved when needed. In this way, district heating components enable renewable energy use to be combined in a sensible way with existing combined heat and power plants. write your comments about the article :: © 2014 Construction News :: home page |
