Bilfinger, BITCC and Siemens form joint venture in China

The engineering and services group Bilfinger has established a joint venture for facility services together with Siemens Ltd., China and Chinese partner Beijing International Technology Cooperation Center (BITCC). The new company will at first assume facility management for real estate at four Siemens' locations in the capital Beijing and in Shanghai. The goal is to also optimize the management of other national and international customers' property in the future, thus fundamentally improving the energy and environmental performance of buildings. Bilfinger holds 40 percent of the shares in the joint venture, 25 percent are held by Siemens and 35 percent by BITCC.

"Bilfinger has doubled its capacity in China in the past two years to more than € 50 million. We also see future growth opportunities there, " says Jochen Keysberg, Member of the Executive Board at Bilfinger.

China: future market for sustainable real estate management

The focus of Bilfinger's business in China has so far been on consulting and engineering services for industrial customers and on water and wastewater technology. "With the joint venture that has now been formed for facility services, we have established a further pillar in an attractive market, " emphasizes Jochen Keysberg. In China, there is substantial demand for the kind of expertise that can lastingly improve the energy efficiency and environmental sustainability of real estate through optimized facility management. This approach produces substantial cost savings and a positive environmental impact.

As market leader for facility services in Germany, Bilfinger has established the significant expansion of the services provided internationally as an objective. In this sense, the company is following the trend among its clients of putting the management of international property portfolios in the hands of a single provider. With the new joint venture, Bilfinger is now in a position to also meet these requirements in China.
