| Balfour Beatty awarded contract by Network Rail  Balfour Beatty, the international infrastructure group, today announces it has been awarded a framework contract by Network Rail for the Central Region (LNW North) of the National Electrification Programme.The seven year framework, anticipated to be worth in excess of £75 million, covers the design and installation of all electrification equipment for the Northern Hub electrification programme for routes between Manchester-Preston-Blackpool and Manchester-Stalybridge. Once complete it will provide faster, quieter and more reliable journeys for passengers in the North of England. The award of this framework follows Balfour Beatty's involvement in Phases 1 and 2 of the programme covering the Liverpool-Manchester route. As part of these works Balfour Beatty has already introduced a number of High Output plant solutions to provide safer, more efficient delivery of electrification works.
