International conference on liveable cities at Ramboll

Why is Copenhagen nominated as European Green Capital 2014? And how can European cities improve liveability? These are core questions in the opening conference on Thursday 23 January: "Copenhagen insights – sharing urban learnings" hosted by Ramboll, one of the main partners for Sharing Copenhagen.

Copenhagen won the EU Commission's prestigious European Green Capital 2014 award ahead of 17 other European cities for its ability to combine sustainable solutions with growth and quality of life.

With the platform of 'Sharing Copenhagen', the Danish capital will be the centre of European knowledge sharing, leading to greener and more liveable cities throughout 2014.

As part of the opening events, Ramboll hosted a conference on Thursday 23 January, which introduced Copenhagen as an international role model for green cities. Keynote speakers shared the most essential learnings from Copenhagen as well as internationally and engaged participants in a discussion on how to develop liveable cities and address future challenges.

In the short film above, you can see a number of keynote speakers giving their view on what makes Copenhagen an international green role model. Some of the keynote speakers are: Karl Falkenberg, Director-General, Environment in the European Commission, Morten Kabell, Mayor of Copenhagen, Technical and Environmental Administration, George Ferguson, Mayor of Bristol and Herbert Dreiseitl, Director of Ramboll's Liveable Cities Lab.

More than 100 delegations are expected to visit the green capital throughout the year and participate in city networks, guided tours, and master classes. The core themes are:

Good city life in the future
Resources and sustainable lifestyle
The blue and green city
Green mobility
The climate and green transformation

As one of the main partners, Ramboll will be participating in master classes, meetings with city delegations and taking part in EU events throughout 2014.
