| Ferrovial Services to build and manage a new landfill in Porto Ferrovial Services, in consortium with EGEO, Amândio Carvalho and Gabriel Couto, will design, build and manage a controlled landfill, recycling centre and transfer station in Póvoa do Varzim, near Porto in Portugal. Worth 111 million euro, this is one of the largest public sector contracts awarded in Portugal in recent years. The landfill will be used to dump municipal solid waste and ash from the waste-to-energy plant managed by Lipor, the contracting authority, in the city of Maia. Lipor manages waste in eight municipalities in the Porto region. The contract runs for 25 years, including the 18 months envisaged for construction of the new landfill. The Maia landfill is expected to reach capacity during this period, and Lipor will switch over to the new landfill once construction is completed. write your comments about the article :: © 2013 Construction News :: home page |
