| Kone to equip luxury cruise ship with energy efficient people flow solutions Finnish lift and escalator maker Kone has won an order to deliver its eco-efficient elevators and escalators for the Royal Caribbean International's latest luxury Oasis-class cruise ship, a yet-to-be named vessel currently known "Oasis 3". She is the sister ship of the largest sailing cruise vessels in the world, the Oasis of the Seas and the Allure of the Seas. The newest addition to the fleet is currently under construction by international shipbuilding group STX Europe in France. Kone's order for Oasis 3 comprises 13 Kone MonoSpace elevators, 28 Kone MiniSpace(TM) elevators - including 12 scenic elevators - and two Kone EcoMaster escalators. Three easy access platforms will ensure efficient movement on-board for passengers with limited mobility. All the elevators will include energy-efficient features, such as regenerative drives that continuously supply energy back to the ship's power network during the breaking phase. The two previous Oasis-class vessels, both of which were built by STX Europe in Finland, also feature Kone solutions. And like its sisters, Oasis 3 is expected to have the capacity to accommodate more than 6,000 people on-board, and offer luxury amenities, such as spas, an outdoor garden, fine dining, shopping, and sporting facilities. Oasis 3 is expected to make its maiden voyage in 2016. write your comments about the article :: © 2013 Construction News :: home page |
