| Mott MacDonald is lenders’ technical advisor for wind farm in Croatia Mott MacDonald is acting as lenders' technical advisor to Erste Group Bank AG, Unicredit Bank and EKF for a 42MW wind farm in Obrovac, Croatia. The Obrovac wind power plant will be able to power over 29,000 local homes. The €66 million wind farm will comprise 14 V90 3MW wind turbine generators capable of generating 105,000MWh annually. A 9km 110kV transmission line will connect to the grid. Mott MacDonald is providing monitoring services for the project during construction phase. The consultancy had previously reviewed contracts, project design, construction and operational arrangements, as well as the project financial model. It also supported the development of environmental and social management plans to ensure compliance with international finance best practices. Construction of the wind farm is due to be completed by summer 2014. David Boyland, Mott MacDonald's project director, said: "Wind power has grown in Croatia since the first scheme was installed in 2004. As Croatia currently imports 35% of its energy, the government plans to make the country more energy self-sufficient by producing 35% of its energy from renewable sources by 2020. This project is another important step towards this goal and the overall development of the country's promising wind market." write your comments about the article :: © 2013 Construction News :: home page |
