Bilfinger wins major order in Poland

German construction and industrial services group Bilfinger SE has won an order for the retrofitting of three flue gas desulfurization systems for Poland's Turow power plant with a volume of about €120 million. The company prevailed against international competition with a turnkey package offer including system engineering and construction.

The client, PGE Górnictwo i Energetyka Konwencjonalna S.A., is the largest energy company in Poland. It primarily operates lignite and coal-fired power plants but also has gas-fired power plants and renewable energies in its portfolio. PGE is currently making substantial investments to modernize and make its power plant pool more environmentally-friendly. In this regard, Bilfinger is retrofitting state-of-the-art flue gas desulfurization systems at three blocks of the Turow power plant in Bogatynia fueled by lignite and biomass. The new systems are scheduled to go into operation already in 2015.
