Pöyry awarded power plant project in Vietnam

Finland-based consulting and engineering company Pöyry has been awarded the owner's engineer services assignment for the Van Phong 1 2x660 MW coal-fired power plant project in Vietnam by Sumitomo Corporation.

Van Phong 1 is a coal-fired power plant project consisting of two similar blocks, each block including a once-through pulverised coal fired steam generator and a steam turbine. The project will use supercritical steam values, which improves the plant efficiency and reduces emissions from the power plant compared to traditional subcritical design.

Pöyry will support the project owner Sumitomo Corporation during the project development and 53 month implementation period as the owner's engineer. Pöyry's assignment includes assistance in EPC and O&M contracting, design review, and supervision of construction and commissioning.
